Home - Journeys - Thailand and Laos 2020 - Monday, March 16, 2020

As always the last days, we slept well again with the family in Lat Krabang.

Today we leave for four nights to Cha-am, the intention is to drive away no later than eleven, then we will be there around two.
After coffee, Tom packs his things and takes a shower. Pia wants to clean up the kitchen and vacuum the house, so she needs a little more time.

At half past eleven we finally drive away. Kanchanapisek Road is occasionally busy, and the exit to Rama II Road is quite chaotic as usual. Rama II Road will be widened, so it doesn't get along for a while, but when we have passed Samut Sakhon it becomes quieter, and when we have passed Samut Songkram it is completely quiet.
Just past Ratchaburi we stop at a gas station to stretch our legs and drink iced coffee.

Just before three o'clock we arrive at the Bann Pantai Resort where we have booked a bungalow via Booking.com. When checking in, we hear that we get a higher discount for a direct booking. We have the idea of having the family come to Cha-am for the weekend, and we're curious if this will happen.
The bungalow looks neat, as we actually expected because this is the fourth journey we come here.
We have a drink on our terrace, order a salad in the restaurant and then go for a walk.
Tom has seen a few restaurants on the internet that might be worth it, Pia is thinking about eating in the hotel restaurant, Coco Buono Bar & Bistro. We go to one of Tom's restaurants, Aroy Restaurant, and if that doesn't seem like anything we go to the hotel for dinner. The restaurant is questionable, maybe good, maybe not; the fact that they sell wine by the glass is decisive, we eat there. Tom orders a schnitzel, Pia fried fish fillet. It's not quite it, it's not badly prepared, but it has little flavor to it.
We walk back to the hotel and sit on our terrace.
The cats, or descendants thereof, that we have seen on previous journeys are also now around.
